Seattle's Best Coffee, a Starbucks-owned brand, is introducing a line of retail coffees that are ranked on a scale of one to five for depth of flavor. The lighter-tasting coffee is aimed at home brewers who haven't been attracted to Starbucks' more intense taste. - "Zero waste" at 2 Albertsons in Southern California
Two Albertsons stores in Santa Barbara, Calif., have reached "zero waste" classification, as defined by the Environmental Protection Agency, by establishing a citywide composting program and donating products to food banks. Rick Crandall, director of sustainability at Albertsons, said, "We are charting a course for the future of our stores -- one that will not only help our environment and the communities we serve, but also the overall success of our business." The Food and Drug Administration will allow Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa, to resume selling fresh eggs from two of its 73 egg houses. Wright eggs were recalled last summer after more than 1,800 people were sickened by salmonella-infected eggs. In a statement, the FDA expressed confidence in Wright's ability to ship safe eggs "after four months of intensive work by the company and oversight, testing and inspections by FDA."
