Visa has launched a location-based effort in Europe that will use information on the location of a customer's mobile phone to cut down on credit card fraud. Visa Europe has partnered with tech provider ValidSoft on a service that will compare the location of the phone with the location of the merchant where a credit card is being used, and send an alert if the spots are too far apart. The European Commission has launched a probe of allegations that Google is engaged in anti-competitive practices by giving lower rankings to rival sites in its rankings.
