P&G restructure might pave path for next CEO
A.G. Lafley, back at the helm of Procter & Gamble after Robert McDonald resigned, has changed the company's organization, creating four global business groups. Each is led by an executive who could become the next CEO. "These new assignments mean A.G. is likely to stick around for at least a couple of years in order to ensure that the person who gets the CEO job produces results and earns the support of the other successor candidates," said John Wood, a vice chairman of search firm Heidrick & Struggles International. Luter III met for about 90 minutes with Wan Long, chairman of Shuanghui International Holdings, setting the stage for Shuanghui's purchase of Smithfield. "I have always thought that something big should happen between China and the United States," Luter said. "There's too much pork in the U.S. and too little in China." The Wall Street Journal (6/5)

Mobile devices, websites inform shopping decisions
Roughly 33% of shoppers use mobile devices to search for coupons and recipes, research products and compare prices, and are visiting grocers' websites to look for meal ideas, all while in the store, according to research from KSC Kreate. Are consumers resistant to online grocery shopping?
Consumers increasingly are planning grocery shopping online, but most still head to a brick-and-mortar store to buy. Experts attribute that more to a lack of options than a lack of demand. "Unless you live in a market with ShopRite, Ahold's Peapod or FreshDirect, you just don't have access to online groceries," MyWebGrocer CEO Rich Tarrant said.
