Campbell CMO shakes up the soup company
Mike Senackerib, the first chief marketing officer in Campbell Soup history, is focusing on growth in Asia and Latin America, and among Hispanics and millennials in the U.S. The company launched Go, a line of bold flavored soups in microwaveable pouches, and is expected to introduce some 50 items between August 2012 and August 2013. Tabasco-maker announces changes at the top
McIlhenny Company, maker of Tabasco, announced Harold Osborn will add international Tabasco sales to his responsibilities as senior vice president. Stephen Romero will move from vice president of international sales to vice president of domestic sales, and Yiannis Tziamtzis, senior marketing manager and brand strategist, is adding global marketing in his new role as vice president of marketing. The shandy gears up to be the toast of the summer
The number of shandy drink products has tripled in the past three years, according to research firm Datamonitor, as consumers look for a less alcoholic yet refreshing beverage during the summer months. "With governments reducing allowable blood alcohol contents for driving under the influence, lower alcohol drinks seem destined to receive more attention," said Tom Vierhile, director at Datamonitor. "2013 is shaping up as the 'summer of shandy' ... While beer and lemon have been dance partners for decades, they have never had the marketing push and attention that they are currently enjoying." Shoppers seek flexibility and convenience, survey finds
In a survey by comScore and UPS, 62% of shoppers say they prefer retailers that let them buy online and return items at a store, while 44% say they want to order online and pick up in store. "What will set apart one retailer from another in a competitive marketplace is how well they meet the rapidly evolving needs and expectations of customers," said Susan Engleson, senior director of comScore. Data on 73,308 U.S. and Canadian participants showed that those who were vegetarian had a lower risk of all-cause mortality over a year compared with meat eaters.
