Hagen: Change in U.S. poultry inspections is to go forward
Elisabeth Hagen, the USDA's undersecretary for food safety, vowed that the Government Accountability Office's critique of data used by the USDA to back new poultry inspection rules is not going to stop the new system from moving ahead. There were additional reasons for the change besides those cited in the GAO report, Hagen told The Hagstrom Report. "This is about public health. ... We've got to reverse the trend on salmonella and this is a big step toward it," Hagen said. FoodSafetyNews.com (9/5)
