Adults still shop as Mom would, research says
Even in adulthood, shoppers' purchases and cooking habits are influenced by their mothers, according to a white paper by Sullivan Higdon & Sink. "It's not just what we buy, it's also why we buy certain types of food -- like free-range eggs or whole-grain breads -- and how we use them to feed ourselves and our families from quick weeknight dinners to the most elaborate of holiday meals," researcher Tom Bertels said. Research: Experience trumps price for retailer loyalty
Retailers including Trader Joe's and Costco Wholesale build brand loyalty through experience, which shoppers value more than price, according to a study by Forrester Research. "As long as retailers are priced reasonably in line with key competitors, and their prices stay in a competitive range, improvements in customer experience are much more critical to create and sustain customer loyalty than trying to lower prices," study author Maxie Schmidt-Subramanian said. Last chance to register for records access webinar
The release of proposed rules under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) on good manufacturing practices and risk-based preventive controls has caused a lot excitement, and even more questions.

GMA can help answer those questions during the Get Smart: Records Access Pre- and Post-FSMA Implementation webinar on Wednesday, May 8, from 1:30-3 p.m. (EST), where a team of GMA experts will review current records access requirements and explore what is to come under new FSMA regulations.

The proposed rules cover new ground in the areas of records access and Food Safety Plans, and once the final rules are published, food manufacturers may be required to produce records on things such as sanitation and allergen preventive controls. This webinar will help you understand what you can do now to get ready for these new requests.
