The European Parliament's environment panel on Tuesday voted in favor of a proposal that would allow EU member countries to decide whether to ban or permit biotech crop cultivation by citing the crops' environmental effects. The proposal is one of the amendments to the proposed draft legislation introduced by the European Commission. The full Parliament is expected to decide on the proposal in June.
