MAC Cosmetics launched MAC Shop Together last week, a service that uses proprietary IM technology to let friends get together online to shop for makeup. MAC has a six-month exclusive on the technology, which lets users chat with up to five friends and invite pals to partake of the makeup party via Facebook, Twitter, e-mail and IM. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said Wednesday that the company had made mistakes in its handling of location data for iPad and iPhone users but had never used the data to track customers. Meijer launched Order-to-Store, which allows users to buy from thousands of items online, then pick them up at a physical store. New research from Collective Media is calling into question the importance of clicks as an ad metric and even whether click-through rates should be a consideration for determining a campaign's success. Almost one in five clicked ads have garnered multiple clicks, leading researchers to believe the activity was not intended by the user.
