Cargill to add automated distribution in Kansas
Cargill is set to begin construction this year on a $48 million automated distribution system for its processing facility in Dodge City, Kan. The system, expected to come online in the spring of 2015, "will benefit our customers by improving order accuracy and on-time delivery, in addition to providing better capability to handle the ever-increasing complexity of product offerings shipped to domestic and international markets," said John Keating, president of Cargill Beef. Kalsec creates indexes to measure pepper heat
Kalsec, using data from Mintel, has developed Kalsec HeatSync Heat Indexes that help customers evaluate the heat of 34 varieties of pepper. "We're seeing particular interest in Szechuan pepper, which delivers a tingling and numbing sensation in the mouth as well as great citrusy flavors," according to the natural-extract specialist.
