WhiteWave brand Silk has launched the "Silk for Milk 10 Challenge," urging consumers to switch from dairy milk to Silk for 10 days, featuring a TV spot showing a Wisconsin family making the switch. - Food prices could drop as U.S. farmers plant more acres
U.S. farmers are expected to plant 91.839 million acres of corn this spring, up from 88.192 million a year ago, and the increased yields could lead to lower food prices. Obese Alaskan Eskimos with the highest blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids had significantly fewer markers of type 2 diabetes compared with counterparts who had low levels of omega-3s, according to a study conducted by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. "It appeared that high intakes of omega-3-rich seafood protected Eskimos from some of the harmful effects of obesity," lead researcher Zeina Makhoul said.
