Nescafe to introduce liquid coffee concentrate
Nestle USA unveiled several upcoming products recently, including a Nescafe liquid coffee concentrate that allows consumers to make coffee in just 15 seconds. New offer puts Chiquita-Fyffes merger at risk
Chiquita Brands International's plans to merge with competitor Fyffes Plc. could dissolve due to a surprise $625 million joint bid from orange juice supplier Cutrale Group and investment company Safra Group. Although Chiquita has not commented on which company it will move forward with, both Fyffes and Cutrale/Safra have indicated they could close the deal before 2015. Pepsi experiments with cashew apple juice
PepsiCo is looking to expand its exotic juice offerings by using cashew apples, the stems of the nut that are usually thrown out, to produce an inexpensive, unique drink for the India market. "We can tell a story around it," said Anshul Khanna, senior manager of juice and juice drinks at PepsiCo India. "The cashew apple is exotic and appealing, and we think it is a premium product." Sales of kombucha tea grow nearly 30%
Makers of kombucha are riding the drink's wave of popularity as sales of the fermented tea continue to rise. Sales across all channels grew 29% between February 2013 and the same month this year.
