  • Mentos captures the social media explosion
Mentos has acquired more than 500,000 Facebook "likes," and sales have risen 6% in the past year with little support beyond social media and shopper marketing. The Perfetti Van Melle brand scored an early social media success in 2006 with YouTube videos of explosions caused by dropping the mints into Diet Coke, and kept the momentum by inviting the video makers to create a Mentos-Diet Coke fountain.
