Penney's chief financial officer Michael Dastugue has resigned after 15 months on the job and 20 years with the company, amid a major overhaul of the department store's operations under CEO Ron Johnson. "Over his 20-year career, Michael served in a variety of finance roles of increasing responsibility, culminating with his appointment as chief financial officer." A new report from the National Association of Convenience stores shows that swipe fees are adding as much as 10 cents a gallon to the increasing gasoline prices across the nation. With gasoline at an average $3.94 a gallon in early April, swipe fees averaged about 7 cents a gallon and ran to 9 to 10 cents per gallon in some cases, the report said. The report comes less than a month after NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay warned that high gasoline prices "are forcing millions of our customers to spend a significant portion of disposable income filling their gas tanks."
