PepsiCo seeks patent for 4-ounce high-protein drinks
PepsiCo is seeking patent protection for 4-ounce high-protein "hydration units." Dondeena Bradley, vice president of PepsiCo Nutrition Ventures said, "We are going to introduce a product that has protein in it, a complete protein, and in a product that women will love. P&G enjoys cost savings from waste reduction
Procter & Gamble says efforts to reduce waste and increase recycling and waste-to-energy conversion have resulted in more than $1 billion in savings over five years. The company says it has 45 sites globally that send no waste to landfills. The Guardian (London) (4/2)

Anheuser-Busch InBev to get OK on Modelo purchase
The U.S. Justice Department is expected to approve the second-largest beer deal ever, allowing Anheuser-Busch InBev to purchase Grupo Modelo for $20.1 billion. To reach the agreement, Anheuser-Busch InBev said it would sell assets worth $2.9 billion to Constellation Brands, including a Modelo brewery in Mexico and U.S. licensing rights to five Modelo brands.
