Hostess Brands to open 4 bakeries, hire 1,500 workers
Metropoulos & Co. and Apollo Global will spend $60 million to open four Hostess plants in the next 8-10 weeks, with the goal of having Twinkies back on store shelves by July. The company plans to hire at least 1,500 workers for the plants but does not intend to hire any union workers, Chief Executive C. Dean Metropoulos said. Berry processing operations purchased by Inventure
Inventure Foods is buying the berry processing operations of Willamette Valley Fruit Company, which processes about 13 million pounds of fruit annually. "This acquisition will help us meet the growing consumer demand for berries nationwide, while also affording us the opportunity to work more closely with the local farmers of the area," said Inventure CEO Terry McDaniel. Colgate posts 5.5% sales increase
Colgate credited product launches with leading a 5.5% sales increase for the quarter. "Colgate's global market share in toothbrushes and manual toothbrushes are both at record highs year to date," said Ian Cook, president, chairman and CEO.
