Hummus boom has Virginia farmers growing chickpeas The growth of hummus sales from Sabra Dipping Company has prompted the brand, owned by PepsiCo and Israel's Strauss Group, to bolster its supply chain in the U.S. The company hopes new chickpea crops in Virginia will increase supplies and protect the company through geographic diversity so weather problems in Idaho and Washington don't decimate supply.
