Fortnum & Mason has more than a dozen "stores within stores" in Japan and a wholesale business in 17 countries. Beverley Aspinall, CEO at Fortnum, is ready to ramp up the retailer's global footprint. Aspinall is looking at opening outlets in India, China and the Middle East. "We're definitely looking at China," she says. "It's a bit like Japan was 20 years ago. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton's 73% surge in profit for 2010 indicates that global demand for luxury goods has returned. Louis Vuitton continued to be the sales and profit growth driver. Morrisons and fashion designer George Davies are in advanced negotiations on a new clothing range. The move would help Morrisons battle rivals including Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda, with which Davies launched the George at Asda brand a couple of decades ago.
