- Best Buy puts more ad dollars into its holiday stocking
Best Buy's holiday ad push this year has a bigger budget behind it, as the electronics retailer will prominently feature the tablets, e-readers and smartphones it sells, all of which have been moving briskly off the marketer's shelves. The campaign, via Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Starcom and Razorfish, will have a significant digital component, but also will include five 30-second TV spots, one of which will feature all of the Apple products Best Buy sells. Outdoor gear and apparel retailer REI will open its first Manhattan store next week, in a historic three-story building in the city's SoHo neighborhood. As shoppers prepare to visit stores and websites after Thanksgiving, the finalists for the seventh annual Customers' Choice awards have been announced. The retailers, chosen by over 9,000 shoppers through a write-in survey, include online greats like Amazon and Zappos and multichannel contenders like L.L.Bean and Nordstrom. According to an NRF survey released today, holiday shoppers are expected to spend an average of $155 on gift cards, the highest amount since 2007.
