Only 18.7% of the top 500 online retailers send follow-up e-mails to shoppers who abandon their carts before checking out, but that's a 42% increase since January, according to Listrak, which says the most successful follow-up campaigns include multiple e-mails. Wal-Mart and Apple stores are among the retailers that are rolling out new mobile apps aimed at spurring holiday sales.
