- M&S CEO Bolland not interested in retail price war
Marc Bolland, the new chief executive officer at Marks & Spencer, said that a price war is not in the retailer's future. Bolland's comments came as M&S reported a significant sales hit from severe winter weather in December. - Auchan China exec says focus is on better, not more, stores
Auchan, the French retail giant, recently opened a large supermarket in Huayang, Chengdu. Auchan is growing much more slowly than its competitors in Chengdu, having opened only three stores over seven years. Su Dehua, general manager of Auchan China, said the company is focused on better stores rather than more stores. The company does, however, plan to open seven stores in the city over the next five years.
