Disney will open at least 25 new and remodeled stores this year, building on the success of a new, entertainment-driven prototype launched in 19 major markets last year, the company said. The parent of Marshall's and T.J. Maxx is aggressively going after organized retail crime cells that cost the industry billions of dollars a year. "You don't want to just catch one cell. ... You have to work your way up the organization to take out the head of the snake." Sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian signed an exclusive deal with Sears to sell their designs at in-store shops in 400 U.S. Sears stores. - Internet, mobile strategies lead the shift in retail sector
A panel of retail and social media executives at the annual Financo Forum agreed that mobile shopping is in the forefront this year. Rue La La CEO Ben Fischman said, "If only now you are starting to think about creating a mobile app, you are incredibly late."
