- IKEA aims to increase sales at French stores by 2.6%
Swedish furniture retailer IKEA is reducing prices at its French stores to entice cost-conscious consumers and bolster sales by 2.6% or more this financial year. The retailer also plans to invest more than $1.33 billion to launch 12 new stores and up to eight shopping centres in France over the next decade, according to Stefan Vanoverbeke, the company's CEO for France. - Bharti Retail to open its first hypermarket in western India
Bharti Retail has been expanding in the north of India and is planning to next tackle the western part of the country with a hypermarket in Mumbai, according to an executive. The company also plans to establish a distribution centre on the highway between Mumbai and Pune. "Our strategy is to consolidate presence in one market, before expanding to another geographic region," a representative of the retailer said.
