Global retail industry news | | - UK retailers' plans should include South America, A.T. Kearney says
Marks & Spencer, Tesco and other British retailers should include South America in their expansion plans, according to A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm. Kearney's global retail development index shows that Brazil, Uruguay, Peru and Chile are among the 10 most attractive countries for retail expansion. "Tesco, M&S and Sainsbury's do, are present or planning developments in eastern Europe and Asia, which are emerging markets, but have not shown plans to open stores in South America," according to the A.T. Kearney report. "It is clear to us that U.K. retailers may be missing out by not actively considering South America."
