- Liz Claiborne, Monet brands sold to J.C. Penney
Liz Claiborne Inc. will bring in $328 million by selling its namesake brand, as well as its Monet, Kensie and Dana Buchman lines. J.C. Penney is paying $288 million for Liz Claiborne, which will create lines exclusively for the department store chain, and the rights in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to Monet. The Claiborne parent also will garner about $40 million from selling its Kensie line to companies associated with Bluestar Alliance and Dana Buchman to Kohl's Corp.
