- Old Navy tempts Hispanic fashionistas with Web novela
Old Navy worked with its digital shop AKQA to create an online version of a telenovela produced and promoted by NBCUniversal-owned Spanish-language network Telemundo that features a glamorous Hispanic actress who dons a variety of the clothier's outfits during the course of the six-part series. Each five-minute episode ends with the character, "Isabella," having to choose which outfit to wear in the next episode, and viewers can help decide by texting in their votes. Officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Washington Metropolitan Police Department arrested 11 people and confiscated about $3 million in counterfeit goods at the D.C. - Study: Brands, not slogans, drive consumer spending
Consumers spend more when they're exposed to luxury brands such as Tiffany and Neiman Marcus and less when they see brands associated with low prices such as Kmart and Dollar Store, but exposure to slogans had the reverse effect, say Harvard researchers. Slogans have the opposite effect because consumers often see them as messages meant to deliberately persuade them to do something. Companies are hiring more 40-and 50-year-old workers for seasonal positions at places such as Party City in Paramus, N.J.
