- Survey: Merchants count on background checks when hiring
Retailers depend on some form of background screening almost 86% of the time when they're recruiting top executives and more than half the time when hiring store associates, according to an NRF survey. The survey comes as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission considers new rules to prevent companies from asking applicants about their criminal histories.
