  • Home Retail says outlook is cautious
    Home Retail Group said it expects its pretax profit for the year to Feb. 26 to be as high as £255 million, down from a previous forecast of £263 million. The owner of Homebase and Argos said that it has become increasingly cautious as consumers rein in their spending.   • Dell plans retail push to boost market share in China
    Dell is planning to establish more than 1,000 retail centers this year as well as add 1,000 after-sales service outlets across China. Dell Greater China President Yang Chao said that the retail centers will be used to display products for personal users as well as corporate clients.   • Saint-Gobain shuts down La Maison outlets in Shanghai
    Nicolas Nie, external affairs director at Saint-Gobain China, said that in response to dwindling demand, the building materials company is closing all seven of its La Maison stores in Shanghai. "More and more housing and apartments sold already come with interior settings so the total market is shrinking," he said.
