  • What should be on the agenda for your Monday sales meeting
Monday-morning sales meetings can help to set the tone for the coming week and get everybody on the same page. The meetings, which shouldn't take more than an hour, can provide an opportunity for salespeople to explain what they did during the past week. Daily Data Points

  • U.S. manufacturing index unexpectedly turns negative
Knocking out a pillar that stood for almost three years supporting the U.S. economic recovery, a survey of U.S. manufacturers fell into negative territory, coming in under the most pessimistic forecasts amid slower domestic spending and Europe's struggles. The Institute for Supply Management's index for June is 49.7, under the 50 mark that divides contraction and expansion. "It's consistent with the idea that the uncertainty is weighing on businesses. Europe is taking a bite out of the export sector," said Neil Dutta, head of U.S. economics at Renaissance Macro Research. Bloomberg (7/2), Reuters (7/2) LinkedInFacebookTwitterGoogle+Email this Story

  • Poll: Workers say goodbye to the wolf whistle
The majority of tradesmen who responded to a recent poll said they would not wolf whistle at passersby either because they found the practice to be inappropriate or because they feared the consequences they might face. "It appears the days of women being wolf whistled at as they pass building or construction sites are dying out," said Jazz Gakhal of Direct Line for Business, which commissioned the research.
