  • Shop windows aim to make customers hungry for more
Eye-catching window displays that are freshened often bring more customers into stores, say Pittsburgh-area boutique owners, many of whom change up the windows once a week. Some contract with design teams to do the work, but many owners take on the task themselves. "There are times I come in, and someone has left me a sticky note on the door about something they like in the window. It shows that people notice. I want my windows to tell a story about what's inside my store," says boutique owner Linda Bucci. Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (5/19) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story

Seattle prosecutors charged six people with running two organized retail theft rings that stole and resold more than $6 million in merchandise from area stores. • Sbarro may sell itself instead of reorganizing
Sbarro said Thursday that a potential buyer has expressed interest in acquiring the chain of mostly mall-based pizza restaurants, and the company is now considering a sale as a possible alternative to a previously planned reorganization announced when Sbarro filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April. The company did not say who the bidder is or how much it had offered for the chain, which closed more than 150 units in the past two years as the recession took a toll on sales.
