  • Toys "R" Us to turn on solar power this summer
Toys "R" Us is converting its largest warehouse in the country and a superstore in Secaucus, N.J., to solar power this summer, with systems provided by power-company partners. The system at the warehouse in Flanders, N.J., will generate almost three-quarters of the power needed to run the facility and save the company an estimated $7 million in electricity costs during the next 20 years. • Louis Vuitton sues e-retailers over alleged designer fakes
Louis Vuitton has filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit in Las Vegas against 182 websites alleging they are selling fake items under the luxury retailer's brand name. Louis Vuitton wants the court to stop the production sales of the items, order search engines and domain-name registrars to shut down access to their websites and either discontinue their domain names or put them under Vuitton's control. The filing is similar to a lawsuit by Tiffany that alleges 223 companies are selling counterfeit goods. Las Vegas Sun (5/10) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story

Today, his namesake chain has grown to five California stores and three in Japan. He gives much of the credit for his success to the people who share his enduring passion for denim, from the manufacturers around the globe to his California customers. • Retailers flock to Hong Kong to reach mainland Chinese shoppers
Hong Kong has earned a reputation as one of the leading luxury-shopping cities in the world, but now a number of mass-market retailers are making their way there in an effort to tap into customers from mainland China. First came the European brands and now a number of American retailers are entering or trying to enter Hong Kong. "The Europeans trailblazed first," said Nick Bradstreet, head of leasing at Savills. "Europeans are more comfortable crossing borders than Americans are. For a German company going to Spain, it's not a big deal. But in the U.S., the domestic market is so big. They haven't always had to go overseas to grow." The Wall Street Journal (tiered subscription model) (5/10) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
