  • Law means more merchants will open on Canada Day
    A federal law in Canada that extends official holidays to Monday when the actual date falls on a Sunday means more retailers will have to stay open and require staffers to work on Canada Day this year. Some retailers in Nova Scotia are pushing the province to pull away from the law. "Retail is a seven-day-a-week business now. So celebrate it on the day that it happens and therefore you avoid a lot of these problems," said Jim Cormier, Atlantic director of the Retail Council of Canada.
