H.J. Heinz's earnings increased 7%, to $3.06 a share, in fiscal 2011, which ended April 27. Profit fell 1% in fiscal 2010, but revenue gained 2%, to $10.7 billion, in fisca1 2011. The company targets major emerging markets and reported that China, India, Indonesia and Russia accounted for 16% of revenue in fiscal 2011. Children ages 3 to 5 almost doubled their intake of vegetables on days when they were given meals that included regular vegetable servings and dishes with pureed veggies versus days without the pureed veggies, a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found. Children appeared to like the doctored recipes as much as they liked the standard meals, but researchers noted that this is not the only strategy parents can use to make children eat vegetables.
