  • Why customers hate rebranding
Companies that change their logos -- think Starbucks, Pepsi, the Gap -- almost uniformly incur the wrath of their customers. That's because the companies have gone to such lengths to give shoppers close emotional bonds to their producrs, relatively superficial changes soon begin to feel like betrayals. "The debate about logos ... reflects the sense that brands belong to everyone, not just to the corporations that nominally control them," the Economist says. • Nut allergies might increase risk of sesame sensitivity in children
Children with a high sensitivity to peanuts or tree nuts have a six- to 10-fold higher risk of also having a sensitivity to sesame seeds compared with counterparts who do not have a sensitivity to the nuts, researchers found. • Bolivian farmers welcome quinoa demand, plan for future
Because the demand for more-healthful grains is growing in the U.S., quinoa sales are up. In Bolivia, where most of this grain is farmed, sales are helping local farmers.
