Retailers in the U.K. reported a significant rise in the number of shoppers using mobile devices to scan codes, compare prices and shop online while on the go this season. Ad content producers are lagging behind the technology infrastructure required to extend ad campaigns across multiple platforms, per a Canoe Ventures report. U.S. consumers are expected to have as many as six types of video-capable screens connected to the Internet by 2015, but marketers are looking for better measurement systems for such integrated campaigns, the report says. Last year's best holiday commercials may have been touching and poignant, but for 2011, it's all about the laughs. According to the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association's 2011 Favorite Ads survey, more than 30% of consumers said Target had the best holiday television commercial, followed by Wal-Mart, Macy's and Best Buy -- each playing up the humor of the holidays.
