- Consumer confidence rises in recent months
The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence index rose nearly 10 points in December, after a 15-point November jump. The index, and two similar reports, may signal a rise in consumption in the months to come, but some economists warned the December numbers may reflect seasonal cheer that could dampen again after the holidays.
