Kraft has unveiled results of a multiyear project with Quantis, measuring the company's overall environmental impact from "farm to fork." Between 2005 and 2010, the company cut energy use 16%, carbon emissions 18%, net waste 42% and incoming water 30%. "As we continue our sustainability journey, we now have more insight into where we can make the greatest difference," said Roger Zellner, Kraft sustainability director for research, development and quality. Coca-Cola and PepsiCo are both working to create bottles made entirely of plant materials. - Childhood obesity rate dips in NYC schools, CDC says
The number of obese children in kindergarten to eighth grade in New York City fell by 5.5% from 2006-2007 to 2010-2011, CDC researchers wrote in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
