  • Tablets are fast becoming a mainstream product in the U.S.
If you own a smartphone, there's an almost 1 in 4 chance you also own a tablet, according to a comScore study for the three-month period ending in April. The survey also found that 53% of tablet owners use their tablets to watch video at least once a month -- compared with 20% of smartphone owners -- and about 27% of those tablet viewers pay for content. "Tablets are one of the most rapidly adopted consumer technologies in history and are poised to fundamentally disrupt the way people engage with the digital world both on-the-go and perhaps most notably, in the home," said Mark Donovan, a comScore senior vice president.
