  • GMA helps lead the way on waste management innovation
Even as the U.S. consumer packaged goods industry has led the way in developing environmentally responsible approaches to waste management -- efforts that have resulted in the voluntary reduction of 1.5 billion pounds of packaging from 2005 to 2010 -- GMA CEO Pamela G. Bailey says the CPG industry will do more through a GMA initiative begun last year that seeks to build collaboration across the packaging life cycle from design to disposal. "Through this effort we will share model practices across the industry, continue to support innovation on packaging design, and sponsor new research to better understand consumer behavior and the many options for solid waste management," she writes.
