  • Discount stores thrive in Canada
The recession is technically over, but Canadian consumers of all incomes continue to seek bargains, helping bolster the bottom line of discount stores such as Dollarama. Industry experts say the trend probably will continue because consumers have changed the way they spend money. "Conspicuous frugality" has replaced conspicuous consumption, according to Ed Strapagiel, executive vice president of Kubas Primedia. The Toronto Star (07 Apr.)
