 - December price increase might mean slower 2012 inflation
USDA economists might lower their prediction for 2012 food inflation, saying a 6% price increase in December might have eased inflationary pressure. "Barring any shocks to the food system, we do expect to see a return to relatively normal levels of food inflation in 2012," research economist Richard Volpe said. The department predicted 2.5% to 3.5% inflation but will release an updated figure next week.
