  • Australian fashion designers focus on online offering
Angela Backshell and Tracy Miller, designers at Lucette, opted against participating in Australian Fashion Week and instead decided to focus on the company's website. "We invested the money that would have gone into Fashion Week in marketing staff for the website, a stylist and a photographer to shoot product on models and generally updating the site to make it more user friendly," Backshell said. "We thought it was best to put the money into online this season because that's where we could see the growth happening and it's less investment than the cost of opening a new [bricks-and-mortar] store." • Asda's price guarantee might be expanded to non-food products
Asda guarantees that a fixed-basket of grocery items is at least 10% less expensive than its rivals and now that price guarantee might be expanded. "We'll look to keep extending the Asda price guarantee," said Asda CEO Andy Clarke. "It seems a natural extension to broaden the ranges, including non-food." Bloomberg (08 Jun.) • Waitrose might consider buying some Iceland Foods shops
Waitrose isn't interested in leading a bid for Iceland Foods but would consider working with a partner or acquiring certain stores. "I think whoever gets it we'd be happy to work with, if the shops fitted our demographic. But we wouldn't go in on the basis we'd be the major party," said Mark Price, managing director at Waitrose.
