J.C. Penney continues to adjust in light of its first-quarter results. The retailer is dropping what had been new phrasing, "month-long value," for the word "sale" -- a word the company had earlier denounced -- acknowledging that consumers were confused by the change. "That's a messaging change within our vision for how we want to compete," said CEO Ron Johnson. In separate news, the company is preparing to launch shops-within-shops in the apparel department.
