- FreshDirect delivery goes Bronx-wide
In a move cheered by New York City leaders, online grocer FreshDirect expanded delivery to include all of the Bronx. But some residents say the food is too expensive and the company expanded only because it received a subsidy. "There are a lot of other ways to get healthy food to people without giving a subsidy to a private company that is not part of the neighborhood," said resident Kelly Moltzen, a nutrition coordinator for Bronx Health REACH, which fights obesity and diabetes. More than one-third of consumers plan to give graduation gifts this year, spending an average of $99.94, up from $88.01 in 2009, according to a survey from NRF and BIGresearch.
