  • Tighter consumer credit isn't hurting EMEA retailers, S&P says
Standard & Poor's Ratings Service has released a report that shows retailers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa are not facing a strain due to tighter consumer lending as a result of turmoil in the European financial markets. "From what we're seeing now, consumer credit in shorter supply is not a threat to the sector as a whole. Only a handful of nonfood niche companies might be vulnerable to dips in credit, but for the moment, they remain unscathed," said S&P credit analyst Vincent Gusdorf. Reuters (15 Nov.)
